Two good friends of mine are getting married today. Some girls and I conspired to make them a quilt as a surprise gift.
We didn’t want it to be girly, plus the bride isn’t a fan of pink, so we picked the blues and greens from Patty Young’s Mezzanine line for the front…
and Ta Dot in Sea for the backing. Their wedding is on a cruise, so these colors seemed very fitting. We quilted waves using our local long-arm quilting machine.
One of the girls who contributed does embroidery, so she whipped up this little panel that we appliquéd to the back of the quilt. Another girl picked out the Chinese saying, which is used frequently for weddings, and translates to “As we hold hands, we go through life together forever.”
The binding is Heather Bailey’s Sway from her Pop Garden line. So cute, and such a good match!
Each girl contributed by designing, machine sewing, ironing, quilting, embroidering, or hand-sewing. This was such a fun gift to make!
Congratulations, Justin and Andrea. We’re so excited for you both!
