It’s that time again! We’ve had beautiful weather down here in Texas. It’s been 70 degrees recently, with one day that hit 80! I’m definitely glad the cold is gone, and I’m hoping this nice weather lasts a while before the summer hits. (Spring in Texas usually lasts about a week, no kidding. It won’t be long before it’s nice and hot.) This is how my garden started out, neglected during the winter, with dead plants from the fall and lots of weeds. There are a few things in there that were supposed to be – some garlic, onions, and carrots. (Chase says hi.) Now that I think about it, I don’t even remember when I’m supposed to harvest those. They’ve been in the ground since September or October.
I pulled out the dead plants and the big weeds and buried the rest with some new pretty dirt. I love the way a garden looks when it is prepped for planting. I’ve put down some black trash bags over the dirt to prevent weeds from popping up, and to hopefully fry the weeds I buried under the dirt. My plan is to buy veggie plants next week and get them planted! Now I just have to figure out what to plant…
This is seriously my favorite two weeks of the year. Is it bad that my favorite part of my house is a tree in the backyard?
I’m so sad that this tree is dying. It’s going to have to be replaced with something that has blooms as beautiful as this whenever the time comes.
I need to figure out how to keep the bugs from eating my peaches this year so that we can enjoy them. Mmmm, peach cobbler…
